Potato Slayer seasoning has a touch of heat. For a spicier snack mix, you’ll want to add 1-2 additional teaspoons of crushed red pepper flakes, as desired for heat. Goldfish crackers add cheesy goodness and whimsy, but feel free to swap in other favorite options, such as pretzels, Chex cereal, rye crisps or Cheez-Its.
Ingredients
-
¾ cup vegetable or olive oil
-
2 tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon Potato Slayer seasoning
-
1-2 teaspoons crushed red pepper flakes (as desired for heat)
-
One (8- to 9-ounce) package oyster crackers
-
½ cup goldfish crackers
Directions
Whisk together the oil, Potato Slayer, and red pepper flakes. Pour the seasoned oil into a sealable one-gallon bag, and then add the oyster and goldfish crackers.
Seal the bag, and then gently shake to evenly coat the crackers in the seasoned oil.
Let the crackers sit at room temperature for at least 6 and up to 12 hours, flipping and gently massaging the bag every couple of hours.
Heat oven to 250 degrees. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment and spread the crackers into a mostly even layer. Bake the crackers, tossing occasionally, until golden brown and toasted, 25 to 30 minutes.
Let cool on the baking sheet at least 5 minutes before serving warm or at room temperature. Once the crackers have completely cooked, they can be stored in an airtight container for up to one week.
