Bacon-Wrapped Hot Honey BBQ Chicken Wings
With a crispy bacon exterior and juicy, perfectly seasoned chicken inside, these wings are the ultimate party food. The thick coat of sweet and spicy hot honey BBQ sauce easily makes this recipe one of our new favorite ways to wing it (and that’s saying a lot).

It's important to slice your bacon in half lengthwise before wrapping it around the wings. This technique exposes more of the chicken for optimal crisping and smoke penetration.
Ingredients
-
2 lbs chicken wings
-
2-3 tbsp Mayor of Rub Town
-
1 tbsp baking powder
-
12 oz thin sliced bacon
-
1 cup hot sauce (such as Frank's RedHot)
-
3 tbsp unsalted butter
-
â…“ cup honey
-
Chopped parsley, for garnish
-
Mexican crema, for drizzle
Directions
Preheat your grill to 275°F for indirect cooking.
Pat dry the chicken wings and place them in a bowl. Season the wings with Mayor of Rub Town and baking powder. Toss until the wings are well coated.
Cut each strip of bacon in half lengthwise. Wrap each chicken wing with one half strip of bacon. Place the wings on a rack and season with a little more Rub Town.
Cook the wings over indirect heat for 30 minutes. Flip the wings and cook for another 30 minutes.
While the wings are cooking, make the sauce. In a small saucepan, combine the hot sauce, butter, honey, and a teaspoon of Rub Town. Cook over medium heat until the mixture has reduced.
Brush the hot honey BBQ sauce on the wings and cook for another 5 minutes. Make sure the chicken has an internal temperature of at least 165°F and then remove from the grill.
Sprinkle chopped parsley over the wings and drizzle with Mexican crema before serving.
