A stick of butter blended with fresh herbs, spices, and aromatics–aka Compound Butter–is a brilliant thing to have on hand. Store it in the freezer, then slice it into discs when you want to add a fragrant richness to steak (buttery ribeyes, anyone?). Garlic Steak Butter seasoning was designed for your favorite steak, but the buttery herb blend–and the following butter–is also wildly delicious on garlic bread, chicken, fish, potatoes, and tossed with noodles.
For the best results, be sure to use softened–not melted–butter when you blend the ingredients. The addition of lemon zest adds a sunny brightness to the buttery herbs.
Ingredients
1 stick unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
Combine the butter, Garlic Butter Steak seasoning, scallions, and parsley in a medium bowl. Use a rubber spatula to blend until evenly combined.
Transfer the butter mixture to a piece of parchment paper or plastic wrap. Use the wrap to shape the butter into a log (about 1 ½ inches in diameter, but don’t sweat it) and wrap well.
Chill for at least 4 hours before using. Once chilled, the butter can be frozen for up to 4 months.
