BBQ Meatballs
Looking at these meatballs reminds me of one of my favorite cartoon characters of all time: Meatwad from Aqua Teen Hunger Force. If you haven’t seen it, a meatball, an order of french fries and a fast-food drink are roommates somewhere in New Jersey. As dumb as that sounds, the cartoon ran for 11 seasons with 144 episodes. Meatwad is the best part. He is a happy, friendly meatball that can change shapes and has a funny voice. He was always so optimistic and kept smiling even when times were difficult. If I was a meatball, I wish I could be like him.
I might not be everybody’s favorite meatball, but I know how to make some good ones. When I think of barbecue, meatballs are not usually on the menu, so it’s nice to do something a little different. We made these barbecue meatballs on the grill for a deep smokey flavor, and also just because we like grilling. This time we seasoned with our Sweet Preacher Pork Rub, although somebody suggested we should use our Texas Hickory BBQ Rub next time. So that’s the plan, I’ll report back on it.
